◆19世紀アメリカで最も多くのトマトの品種を保持していたアレキサンダー・リビングストンのよって1875年に紹介された。1879年から1930年頃までアメリカで人気だった幾分平たいくびれのある直径約7cm、重さ約200g〜約250g。
◆Livingston'sのカタログでは以下の様に紹介されています。：
(Introduced by Us in 1875). As a shipping sort for growing in the Southern States, it is one of the
best. This was the first perfectly smooth, large purple Tomato introduced. Today, after all these years, it is still the leading sort with extensive growers in the South, particularly in Texas. It is a smooth, uniform, medium-sized, early, purple-fruited sort, very prolific. Fruits in clusters of four or five are of medium size and free from cracks; are solid and stand long-distance shipment; quality fine.
◆Indeterminate=Cordon インデターミネイト（コーディン）種：草丈150cm以上の芯止まりで無い品種。支柱が必要です。
